Mortgage Lifter Heirloom Tomato was developed in the early 1930s by Mr. Byles of Logan, West Virginia. He cross-bred the largest tomatoes he could find there and sold the resulting plants for one dollar each. He was able to pay off his mortgage in six years, hence its name! This sweet-flavored tomato is large and meaty with few seeds and ripens to a deep pink.
